Infinity Mode Info
Infinity Mode, or Infinity Time, is a game mode you can play after finishing all the quests for either the plants or zombies. The last quest lets you play the mode once, for free. After that, you must pay 5 stars every time you try it.
This mode has you fighting waves of gnomes and nemesis enemies, either plants or zombies depending on which side you are on. You do this while in a mech suit that has 2,000 health and unique abilities.
- Left Ability is a Charge that pushes you forward and damages anyone in your path.
- Middle Ability gives you a powerful main attack that makes you move slower but deal a lot more damage.
- Right Ability gives you a spinning attack.
Your main attack is a laser that overheats if you fire it for too long. When on the plants' side, the mech resembles a dinosaur. The zombies side mech resembles a cat.
Game Mechanics
It is called Infinity Mode because it doesn't end until you either run out of health or the time destabilizes. Whenever you kill an enemy they drop a Time Shard. These are the only way you can heal in this mode. This is also the currency used to give you rewards at the end.
Every 5th wave you will fight a Gnome boss and if you win, the color changes for the next set of waves. All shards on the ground get sucked by to your character when you kill a gnome boss.
As you go through the waves, you will have to fight mini-bosses and things called "Floaties". Floaties hover over one of the glowing circles in the area and start destabilizing time. Your meter at the top of the screen will start to go down and if it goes away completely, you lose.
They also spawn enemies while they do this, so be careful. When the color switches every time you kill a gnome boss, the meter goes back to full. The color cycles after every 5th wave through blue, green, yellow, red, rainbow, then repeats.
Rewards
When it is over, your shards fill a chest. Your rewards depends on how many shards you get and can be anything from coins and accessories, to legendary character pieces.
If you want 2 character pieces at once, you need around 20,000 - 25,000 shards. This requires about 25 waves, after you've completed a wave or 2 after Rainbow.
This mode is the only way to get the "Party" variants for the 6 new characters added: Citron, Rose, Kernel Corn, Captain Deadbeard, Imp, and Super Brainz.
I messed up in the video at one point and took too much damage, so I only got to around 19,000 shards. That was enough to get one legendary character piece for the Party Citron. I got both pieces for Party Rose when I got 32,000 time shards.
Infinity Mode Tips
The most important thing you can do when playing this mode is to leave the time shards on the ground when you kill enemies.
- Be aware of your surroundings so you don't get flanked or accidentally pick up time shards.
- Only pick up time shards when you are low on health.
- I usually try to keep my health above 1500.
- You will get all the time shards that dropped when you kill gnome boss, so don't worry about missing any.
- Use the charge to escape or take out small enemies when they get too close.
- Save your middle ability, the one that does great damage, for Floaties or bosses.
- You can take out a Floatie before your meter goes down if you save the attack.
- Skip the Nemesis challenge, you only get coins and it is safer to wait until time runs out.
- When the Nemesis wave pops up, just run away until time runs out, then defeat all the enemies.
- Kite enemies around the field as long as you don't have a Floatie or gnome boss up.
- The only thing you must worry about is time destabilizing, so just play it safe the rest of the time.
These tips should make it easier to get far in Infinity Mode. Let me know if you have any questions or tips of your own.
